The Running Chronicles - Part 3

Today our quartet of four switched out Tia for Brazil, so Shadae, Jaz, Brazil and I went running this morning. We were all feeling our muscles from the previous day's activities so we walked more than ran today which allowed us to observe the microcosms of Brazilian life around us.

It was a much busier morning with more traffic on the roads and the sidewalks. We saw school kids skate-boarding to school, parents biking with their kids to school and the usual assortment of runners, bikers and walkers exercising. We also discovered to our chagrin that our 'statue people' from the previous day were in fact sculptures and not people at all since they were in the exact same position 24 hours later. There are also incredible sand sculptures on the beach that are made by homeless people who sleep next to them and hope to earn some money from tourists snapping photographs of them.
Before returning to the hotel we stopped at the public 'playground gym' and tried out some of the equipment . A few Cariocans (term for residents of Rio) were working out and we were quite the curiosity , although they were very polite and friendly. Thus ended our third day of running. So far so good!
