Bird traps

These little traps were essentially open-sided cages built of stakes in the ground. Children were in charge of building these small traps, and gathering the seeds to lure the birds. As birds entered the cage for seeds, the bar would trigger a heavy branch that would drop on the birds, killing them outright.
