Spring-loaded deer traps

After a deer path was located, the Guaranyi would build a trap for the deer. This involved a noose for their legs, placed on top of some small sticks covering a hole in the ground. When a deer stepped on the trigger, a rope made of woven philodendron roots would be released that snapped a bent sapling back upright, drawing tight the noose over the animal's leg. These traps would have to be checked regularly, as jaguars would also check the traps frequently.
