The beautiful new wing if this building grafts up and onto the old art museum building. We entered by elevator up to the viewing deck on top, with gorgeous views out over the bay and the old town. Going down into the museum is a trip through an enclosed ramp that circles around the outside of the buildings and deposits us into the galleries in the old building. We lucked into a huge display of representations of Brazil over time, including everything from early missionary naïf art to Victorian tourist postcards to the Rio Barbie collection from the 1970s.
